"Sidesteps pretensions of necessity to allow a more modest and cautious perspective that asks what our experience of the world indicates to be the normal course of affairs. . . . Propounds an unorthodox approach to philosophy that is predicated on interpreting generalizations not as universals, but as standards.”—Research and Reference Book News
